The Ermita de los Remedios (Chapel of the Virgin of the Remedies), built in the 17th century and known as “Cerro de San Cristóbal” (Saint Christopher Hill), is one of the main tourist attractions in Vélez-Málaga. Its interior walls, covering 1,150m2, were painted by local artist Evaristo Guerra in fresco techniques. Vélez-Málaga’s traditional monuments and trades, as well as religious scenes and images of the Virgin Mary, were the motifs chosen by Guerra for his frescoes.
